Your child is completely unique! We want to get to know you and your child really well so that your child feels cared for, secure and happy and you feel confident and relaxed leaving him or her in our care.
Children are competent and active learners and we want your child to enjoy their early year’s experiences so that they develop and learn at their own pace to reach their full potential.
Our nursery staff provide rich play-based experiences which support children’s learning and development. We use a ‘key person’ approach to enable children and parents to develop close relationships with our staff.
Each of our staff is given special responsibility for working with and caring for a small number of children and building effective relationships with you - their parents and families.
Your child’s ‘key person’ will take responsibility for meeting your child’s needs and making careful records of your child’s experiences and their learning and development. Your child will also have a second ‘key person’ who will cover if your child’s ‘key person’ is on holiday.
Initially your child’s ‘key person’ will meet you and your child and get to know you. She will ask you to share information about your child that will help us to care for your child as you would want. Your child’s ‘key person’ will help your child become familiar with the nursery, our staff and other children - and to settle in to the nursery. Your ‘key person’ and our Nursery Manager will arrange for your child to attend for some short sessions prior to them starting nursery to spend time with their ‘key person’. You may want to stay with them for the first couple of sessions.
